What we collect
When you fill in an enquiry form on this website we collect the information you give us, which is your name, telephone number, email address, the type of event, guest numbers, event date and any details you choose to share about your requirements.
We also collect limited technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site. Where you have reached us through an advert we may record the advertising click identifier so we can tell which campaigns produce enquiries.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote or menu proposal.
- To deliver catering services you have booked, including dietary and allergen planning.
- To measure how well our advertising works, so we do not waste money on adverts that produce nothing.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Our lawful basis is either your consent, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the business, or the performance of a contract once you book.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we never share it for anyone else's marketing. We do use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, including our website form provider, our email and messaging providers, our automation tools and analytics and advertising platforms including Google. These providers act on our instructions and are bound by their own data protection obligations.
We may share information where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for two purposes. Some are necessary to make the site work. Others measure how visitors use the site and whether an advert led to an enquiry, including Google Ads conversion tracking and Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may then not work as intended.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to two years so we can pick the conversation back up if you return. Booking records, invoices and related correspondence are kept for seven years to meet accounting and tax requirements. After that, information is deleted or anonymised.
Where your data is held
Your information is stored on servers within the UK and the European Economic Area wherever possible. Some of our providers operate internationally, and where information is transferred outside the UK we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, call us on 07360 075019 and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Booking terms
The following applies to catering booked with Domu Catering. Full terms are set out in the written quotation and booking confirmation you receive, and those documents take precedence over this summary.
- Quotes. Quotes are based on the guest numbers, menu and service level agreed at the time and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- Booking. A booking is confirmed once you have accepted the quotation in writing and paid the agreed deposit. Dates are not held until then.
- Final numbers. Final guest numbers and menu choices are needed a set number of days before the event, as stated on your booking confirmation. Charges are based on final confirmed numbers.
- Payment. The balance is payable in line with the dates on your invoice.
- Cancellation. Cancellation charges apply on a sliding scale depending on how close to the event you cancel, reflecting produce, staffing and hire already committed. The scale is set out in your booking confirmation.
- Allergens. We take allergens seriously and will design around declared requirements. Our kitchen handles a wide range of ingredients, so we cannot guarantee the total absence of any allergen. Please tell us about all requirements in writing before the event.
- Access and facilities. You are responsible for ensuring we have reasonable access to the venue and any facilities agreed in advance, such as power, water or space for set up.
- Equipment. Hired crockery, glassware and equipment remain our property or that of our suppliers. Loss or damage during the event may be charged at replacement cost.
- Liability. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
